Weekend Brunch: RingSide Grill – Portland, Oregon
If there’s one thing Portlanders love – it’s brunch.
So when Ringside Grill in NE Portland invited us to check out their new brunch menu, we hopped in an Uber and headed about 15 minutes away from downtown to their clubhouse dining room attached to the Glendoveer Golf Course.
Drinks – You can’t go wrong with a $5 Mimosa with a choice of orange, grapefruit or passionfruit puree on a Sunday Funday. A cold spicy Bloody Mary also hit the spot for $8. It’s the perfect way to enjoy the sunshine on their patio and soak up the golf course view.
RingSide Onion Rings
When the James Beard organization recommends the onion rings – you order them. In fact, our Uber driver and our server highly recommended them, so how could we not?
DEAR GOD.
Paul took one bite and declared it the best onion ring he’s ever eaten. They are so good and live up to all the deep-fried hype when crispy, hot and fresh out of fryer. I don’t know what is in that batter but these rings are perfect. Served with a side of ketchup or a tangy house made dip with specks of blue cheese. Pictured above is the small ($10.50).
Eggs in Purgatory
I love a big eggy messy on toast and this dish delivered all that and more. Thick grilled sourdough toast topped with crushed tomatoes, two poached eggs, arugula and freshly grated Parmagiano cheese. Served with oven baked potatoes and super filling ($12.95).

Chicken Fried Steak
If you had a hangover to cure, I’m pretty sure the Chicken Fried Steak would fix you REAL good. RingSide Grill is known for their steak, in their brunch version – big meaty chunks are battered, deep-fried and smothered in homemade gravy. The steak is served on a bed of fluffy scrambled eggs with melted cheddar cheese, a sprinkle of chives and a warm homemade biscuit on the side. ($14.95).
Overall, we really enjoyed getting away from the hustle and bustle of downtown and into the relaxing pace of the golf course. The food was delicious, the service was on point and we didn’t have to wait in line with the rest of the brunch village.
If you’re familiar with RingSide Fish House or RingSide Steakhouse, you will not be disappointed by the food from Executive Chef Edward Higgins and his team here.
