7 Essential Summer Beauty Tips
This is a sponsored post in partnership with Colgate* Optic White TM/MC.
Summer is right around the corner and I’m trying to get my summer beauty routine up to speed with all the fun events I have planned with friends and family over the next couple months. Hello, wedding season!
I’ll be flying a bunch, going glamping and attending a mini family reunion in New York City. I’m definitely trying to make sure I look and feel my best for this summer and beyond. So I’ve put together a list of my 7 Essential Summer Beauty Tips to get you ready for all the warm weather and the activities that go with it!
1) Change Your Moisturizer
I don’t know about you, but I like to change up my moisturizer to something lighter as the humidity rises. My advice is to find something oil-free that won’t clog your pores and light enough to wear under your make-up and sunscreen. Since it’s not super hot yet – now is a great time to start looking for a new moisturizer for your summer beauty routine.
2) Get Your SPF On
If you’re not wearing sunscreen daily – now is the time to start! I like to use a light, mineral formula on my face and usually invest in a high quality sunscreen. What I use on my body is different. My face is a bit more sensitive to breakouts with the summer heat and make-up piled on, so I like to choose an SPF product that is much gentler.
3) Hydrate Like Crazy
Beauty comes from the inside out. Which means you want to make sure you’re drinking lots of water to keep your skin looking hydrated and beautiful. My trick? I chug two big glasses of water with a squeeze of lemon as soon as I wake-up. Then I make sure I sip on water throughout the day to keep my energy levels up.
4) Find a Good Body Scrub
Hot summer nights can leave your skin feeling sticky. Find a good body scrub that can help slough away dead skin cells and leave your skin glowing. I find that a good scrub can help with clogged pores caused by sunscreen, sweat or even chlorine from the pool.
5) Switch Up Your Foundation
I generally steer clear of heavy foundation formulas in the summer. Now is a great time to experiment with lighter BB creams or mineral powder. I’ll only bust out the heavy foundation if I’m attending an evening event. Otherwise, I like to keep my daytime look light and fresh for my summer beauty routine.
6) The Top Knot is Your Best Friend
When you reach the point where it’s so hot, you can’t even stand to have your hair hanging around your shoulders – the top knot is your best friend. It’s also my best friend when I’m running late or have wet hair. Stock up on hair elastics, clips and bobby pins for those hot weather days when you need to just throw your hair up in a flash.
7) Work That Smile
A summer full of weddings, showers, glamping trips and family events = a TON of pictures. Keep your smile looking fresh with Colgate* Optic White* PlatinumTM/MC High Impact White TM/MC Toothpaste. Just use it twice daily for six weeks to get four shades visibly whiter teeth and you’ll start to get a brighter, whiter smile in just three days. The great thing is, you can get whiter teeth by doing the thing you’ve always been doing – which is brushing twice daily.
