Trying to get more protein and calcium into your diet? Love a good smoothie?

I’ve been eating more yogurt lately because it’s a quick and easy way to boost my protein intake and energy levels. I love to make this green smoothie in the morning to get a good serving of fruits and vegetables in one go. It truly does start my day off right and I make better food choices later because of it.

Green Smoothie

No time in the morning? You can even make it the night before and just give it a whirl in your blender before you head out the door. I recommend using a strong, high quality blender like this one that can handle chopping up ice and frozen fruit.

Here’s what I like to put into my breakfast smoothie:

Orange Julius Spinach Smoothie

Makes 2 servings

 INGREDIENTS

  • 1 orange, peeled and quartered
  • 1 banana, cut into large chunks
  • 1 handful of frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup baby spinach
  • ½ cup iögo Vanilla Greek Yogurt
  • Water or ice (optional)

PREPARTION

  1. Place your yogurt and spinach into a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Add your strawberries, banana, orange and blend again until smooth.
  3. Taste your smoothie and add optional ice (if you want it colder) or water (if you want it thinner).
  4. Blend again, pour into two glasses and enjoy!

iogo pouch

iögo’s new large format pouches are super easy to use for making smoothies. The package is flexible and you can pour the yogurt directly into your bowl or blender without a spoon. I usually just eyeball everything for my smoothies.

iögo is great for those busy mornings when you need to make something and run. There’s no big mess and no major cleanup! Just pop on the resealable cap and recycle the packaging when you’re done.

When I’m looking for an afternoon snack, I like adding iögo original vanilla to a small bowl and topping it with fresh berries and a bit of granola for that extra crunch. Just drizzle with a bit of honey and you’re done.

Meal Prep Tip: make your yogurt snack bowls ahead of time, so you’re not tempted to reach for junk food.

If you’re cooking with yogurt, it’s easy to pour iögo directly into a measuring cup for perfect portion sizing. iögo is great for making tzatziki, salad dressings, curries and more.

The large pouches are $5.99 and come in flavours like vanilla, strawberry and plain with original, probiotic, Greek, 0% and 2% versions. The probiotic line has 25% less sugar than the original recipe and the Greek version has 18 grams of protein per 175 gram serving!

You can find iögo at grocery stores across Canada including: Loblaws, Metro, Safeway, Sobeys and more.
