A Good Book Drive

Have you heard of A Good Book Drive?
Reading is a huge part of life. I am a big fan of reading and always have been. I remember being read to as a kid and having my imagination grow from hearing all of those fantastic stories. When my pal Lana Gay told me that she would be organizing a kids book drive in Toronto, I immediately asked how I could help.
A Good Book Drive originally began in Vancouver in 2012 and since then it has expanded to Brooklyn, Calgary and now Toronto. For the month of February, locations all over Toronto have boxes where you can donate your new or gently used favourite kids book. The books donated are going to the fabulous Children’s Book Bank located in Regent Park.
The Book Bank provides literacy programs for kids and every kid that visits is allowed to take a book home to keep forever, allowing them to begin building their own library. A Good Book Drive also makes it that much more special by encouraging those who donate books to fill out a label to personalise the book and to let the kid receiving it just why they think that the book is awesome.
I love that.
Throughout the month, we are featuring on the AGBD website some great people of Toronto with their favourite kids book that they have chosen to donate. These people include Norm Kelly, Hannah Georgas, CBC Q’s Shad, Olympian Adam Van Keoverdan, Indie 88’s Raina Douris and many more familiar faces.
Our goal for A Good Book Drive Toronto is to raise 1,000 books before the end of February. There are donation boxes located all over the city to make it easy for you to donate and I hope you’ll choose your favourite book to add to the collection!
